14 April 2013
We have settled in the small village of Tingri (4300 metres) for a day or so.
Our bus arrives soon to take to our base camp. This is the last time we will
sleep in buildings. A 3 ˝ hour drive will take us to base camp, where we will
meet our crew and cooks for the climbing portion of our expedition.
Once at base camp, we will plan our climb schedule. Out next report will be
from our base camp.

Here is a report from the Summit Climb team approaching Everest from Tibet.
Clearing Chinese customs was slow, probably due to our group being the first
Western team to cross this climbing season. We are still in Nyalam; altitude
approx. 3,750 metres/12,300 feet.
We took an acclimatizing hike today, climbing up to about 4000 metres,
enjoying with a few inches of fresh snow today. Everyone is healthy, strong
and feeling excited.
